Zhang Xiaoying

Zhang Xiaoying – Based on the Agreement that the University of Tirana has with the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and Beijing Foreign Studies University, she was admitted as the Chinese Director at the Confucius Institute at the University of Tirana (CIUT) for a two-year period.

Mrs. Zhang, PhD, professor of English and international communication, is the co-founder of the School of International Journalism and Communication(SIJC) at Beijing Foreign Studies University. She served as the executive dean of the SIJC during 2014-2019. Her main research interest includes international journalism and intercultural communication. After BA degrees from both Zhejiang University and Shanghai International Studies University she received an MA in Modern British Studies from Warwick University, UK and PhD in international communication from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She once worked in the Ministry of Education (1996-1997) and also worked in the Chinese Consulate General in sydney, Australia(1999-2001). She was a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge (2010-2011). She contributes to the Chinese and British press and has published papers on international journalism and communication. Her major book in English is The Economist’s Construction of Globalization (1985-2010): A Narrative Analysis with a Chinese Perspective.
